Lower Kirkton from the Cemetery, taken from what would have been the site of the old church.
A postcard of the Kirkton with the "Dame's School" shown on the left, now Willie Mill's house. I believe this closed in 1889 & would not have been approved by the Kirk Session as they apparently actively discouraged private schools, preferring all children to be taught by the Parish School.
A photograph of Rose Cottage in Kirkton. This used to have a Tearoom much favoured by the Trippers from Dundee. The Tearoom was on the right of the picture & is now the garage for the house. Balmerino had at least three tearooms that catered for Dundonians who took the train to Wormit station and walked along the braes to visit Balmerino. Many folks brough packed lunches and bult campfires on the beach and on the braes to make tea.
